Bio

I was born and grew up in Taiwan. My family was quite proud that I was the first one to enter college and graduated with a major in sociology. Fascinated with journalism and films, I ventured way out to University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School. I worked in the industry briefly afterward, but decided to return to academia. I went to another graduate program housed in today’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I enjoyed the time at Chapel Hill and was fortunate to work with several wonderful mentors, including Robert L. Stevenson, Jane D. Brown, and Donald L. Shaw. After earning my Ph.D. in 1998, I have continued to work as a college professor. It is truly the best job one can have – constantly meeting new people, learning new knowledge, and discovering new things! For my leisure, I enjoy hiking, gardening, swimming, and traveling to different parts of the world.
