My academic route started at National Taiwan University where I majored in Sociology as a undergraduate student. After the required service I ventured out to University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School and earned my master’s degree in communication. I worked in the industry briefly, but decided to return to academia. I went to a doctoral program of mass communication research housed in today’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I enjoyed the time at Chapel Hill and was immensely fortunate to work with several wonderful mentors, including Robert L. Stevenson, Jane D. Brown, and Donald L. Shaw. After earning my Ph.D. in 1998, I was lucky to find a job and have continued to work as a college professor. It truly is the best job one can have – constantly meeting new people, learning new knowledge, and discovering new things! For my leisure, I enjoy hiking, gardening, swimming, and traveling to different parts of the world. More on BU COM site.
